What are the top issues facing this district/municipality and how would you work to resolve it?

I believe one of the top issues facing our county is the pollution threat from incoming CAFOs (Confined Animal Feeding Operations). Southern Wisconsin sits on one of the deepest, cleanest water aquifers in the world. It is our greatest asset. Unfortunately we also have extensive karst limestone substrata in our area. Karst areas are known to contain substantial cracks and fissures that let surface water enter the underground water table without sufficient soil to filter out contaminates. With larger CAFOs the waste production is great. State regulations are insufficient to protect these aquifers as we have seen in Kewaunee County's ongoing pollution problems. We must push to enact requirements to protect our water supply.

What are other key issues facing the district/municipality, and how would you work to resolve them?

Money is another issue for us. Each year our budget gets tighter. Our obligations never seem to decline. We must make sure we are getting all we can from the funds we must spend and save expenses where possible.
