What are the top issues facing this district/board and how would you work to resolve them?
While there are many issues to deal with in today's ever changing educational environment, I believe that the Juda school district has done a remarkable job with the resources available. In order to provide a good learning environment to allow our children to be productive citizens in our society, I see it as the job of the school board members to enable staff and students to do their best by providing them the guidance and resources they need to excel.
What are other key issues facing the district/board, and how would you work to resolve them?
Some of the top issues I expect to deal with in the next three years include Common Core standards, staff compensation, educator effectiveness, student achievement, alternative education, technology, facility management, green initiatives, and STEM opportunities. I also believe it is important to support programs like ag science, fine arts, and business which provide diverse educational opportunities.
Each of these issues require a multitude of solutions requiring board members to be adaptable to these problems. My experience on the school board has shown me how we as a unified board can reach a consensus in finding ways to resolve these issues.
