What are the top issues facing this district/municipality and how would you work to resolve it?

We are a growing school district with a need for more classroom space and staff. The Administration and Board work together to balance the retirement of debt service with the cost to build so that the tax rate is held as steady as possible. This became more challenging as State Funding to public schools experienced big cuts in the past 4 years.

Because K-12 teachers took a large salary cut due to Act 10, and experienced the negative publicity toward public employees that went with it, there are fewer of the higher achieving students going into Teaching. We must work together to change this and give teachers the respect and compensation they deserve.

What are other key issues facing the district/municipality, and how would you work to resolve them?

The Village is raising money for the first Library building in New Glarus. The site selected downtown for the Library will require the School District and Village to work together to build a new Softball field. I strongly support this work between the Village and School District.

Why are you the best candidate for this office?

My educational background in teaching, and my upbringing in New Glarus give me a good perspective on how supportive the community has been of educating it's youth. I will continue this support as a member of the School Board. It also gives me another chance to give back to the community that has given me so much.
