Age: 65
Address: 964 E. Lucy St. Darlington
Family: Wife, Phyllis, of 43 years. Four children and nine grandchildren.
Education: Masters degree in environmental science from University of Wisconsin-Platteville
Occupation: Retired teacher of 39 years. City manager for the Wis. State Journal.
Previous elected positions held: Darlington School Board 17 years. Alderperson four years.
Community involvement:
When my kids were in scouts, I was the Cub Scouts Den and Pack leader. Served on Boy Scout and Darlington Day Care boards. Until last year was the Hidden Valley travel magazine sales representative the past two years. Presently, I serve on the endowment committee and chairman for the Fun Night fund raiser for our church. I am presently the Faithful Navigator for the Monroe-Darlington 4 degree KC's Council.
What are the top issues facing this board/council and how would you resolve them?
Concern about the cost of city government for a town our size without raising taxes. Reducing the supply of older unsold homes within the city. Continue to upgrade the streets and sidewalks on a planned program,
especially the crumbling walls. The solutions to these ongoing issues will require grant-writing, tax incentives for remodeling older homes and addressing each department's cost to operate.
