What are the top issues facing this district/municipality and how would you work to resolve it?

The top issues facing District 24, and Green County in general include: funding for schools and roads; clean water, land and air; broadband and rural internet; the opioid crisis; and the struggle to keep our farmers on the land and businesses successful. Several of these issues stem from the state level, so continuing to talk with our state legislators and work at our local level to push for realistic changes, to engage with the Wisconsin Counties Association and other agencies to collaborate and develop solutions, and perhaps most importantly to develop and follow a strategic plan for Green County are excellent ways to resolve these issues.

What are other key issues facing the district/municipality, and how would you work to resolve them?

I am constantly becoming aware of more issues. I think the key to resolving them is communication and awareness, as well as having people who are willing to work together to find creative solutions. Many times lack of funding is a key component to the issue, so we need creative, sustainable solutions and the ability to work within the parameters of a strategic plan. A strategic plan for the county is imperative to the prioritization of resolving issues. How do we know which issues to tackle first without a plan? Instead of spreading our resources thinly over many issues, we can concentrate on a couple of the most impactful, resolve them and move on to the next issues while keeping our vision for Green County in the forefront.
