What are the top issues facing this district/municipality and how would you work to resolve it?
There are several issues at the top of the list of concerns that I have, along with many of the citizens of Monroe. It is of great importance that we move forward and get our city employees back in their offices in City Hall. The past year and a half they have been displaced and citizens have challenges finding the locations of various departments.
Another issue is a lack of affordable housing for young families, single parents, those on fixed incomes, along with the need for upscale complexes with amenities, such is offered in larger cities. Many people are commuting to their workplaces in Monroe due to a lack of housing. Monroe's Comprehensive Plan needs to be a guide to future development, implementation and action by the Common Council of the City of Monroe
The discussion and negotiations between the City of Monroe and the Green County Solid Waste Board needs to be reviewed, renewed, and decisions made, based on the projection of costs, to include other factors, that were not included in the original decision to haul Monroe's garbage out of Green County. There are other services provided at the Green County transfer station that a commercial hauler does not offer.
What are other key issues facing the district/municipality, and how would you work to resolve them?
I feel that my experiences as an elected official at various levels within the county, qualifies me to serve the citizens of Monroe. It is important to represent constituents by gathering facts, listening to the majority, and being a strong voice on the City Council for residents of Monroe.
