What are the top issues facing this district/municipality and how would you work to resolve it?

There are several issues facing Green County in the future:

Green County will need to plan out a future update to the County Jail facility, and consider implementation of renovation needs for Pleasant View Skilled Care Facility to meet the future needs of our residents for rehabilitation care and skilled care. My position as supervisor is to review and study the information on these capital projects, ask good questions and to find solutions that are affordable for the residents of Green County.

Green County will likely face issues on how to develop guidelines to be followed for Concentrated Animal Facility Operations (CAFO) for proper location and to safely operate ensuring the health and safety of our county residents while preserving the value of property that adjoins these CAFO facilities. My position as supervisor is to review and study the information that will be presented before the county and to ask good questions to make an informed decision that will be in the best interest of our county residents yet allow our ag economy to continue to remain strong for the overall economic health of our county.

What are other key issues facing the district/municipality, and how would you work to resolve them?

State regulations limit the growth of the county tax levy on property in Green County. The county sales tax has helped fund our county capital expenditures in the past but future financing needs for capital expenditures which may call for a referendum before the residents of Green County to determine if they will support additional real estate taxes. I would make sure that all the facts and details are available for the voters of Green County to make an informed decision.

Green County has had to spend down its general fund money to meet budgets and is a trend that cannot be continued unless revenues increase from county tax levy or county sales tax. The State of Wisconsin continues to mandate expenditures on counties but do not provide funding for the mandates. Our county roads and bridges are in need of repair and replacement. Many are existing beyond their useful life. Green County may need to consider a County Wheel Tax to provide funding to catch up county road repairs and bridge replacements. I would make sure that all the facts and details are available for the voters of Green County to make an informed decision.
