What are the top issues facing this district/municipality and how would you work to resolve it?
Budget restraints are always an issue. Deciding what projects to fund and how they will be funded is difficult. From my perspective, projects/programs that ensure public safety and wellbeing need to take priority.
What are other key issues facing the district/municipality, and how would you work to resolve them?
It is important to encourage our business community and to support new businesses looking to locate in our village. We are lucky to have a vital business community in our small town. Offering loans to new businesses and historic preservation tax credits to folks wanting to upgrade their facilities are a couple ways to provide encouragement. Finally, I believe in maintaining the facilities we have. The village hall, the parks and equipment in them, police, fire, street and utility vehicles, roads - all need routine maintenance and repair. Long range planning, to ensure that what we have is maintained and what needs replacing can be funded, is essential.
Why are you the best candidate for this office?
I have been pleased to serve on the village board these past two years. I have tried, and will continue to strive, to listen to all sides of issues that come before the board, and then to base my decisions based on that information along with what I feel will is the best option, for the most people, for the long run. I would be honored to have the opportunity to serve another term.
