Call center plans to open in Brodhead

BRODHEAD - Straight Forward, a Midwest rural outsourcing firm based in Wisconsin, is ready to open its newest office at 2602 1st Center Ave. in Brodhead this month - its fourth office since beginning in 2009 in Sauk City.

The company will host an open house from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the new Brodhead location.

Key to deciding where to open its newest call center was the ability to attract a sufficient number of quality employees, according to Tom Swanson, a member of the management team, who works primarily at Straight Forward's Eau Claire facility.

"We've received 30 pre-open house applications already," he said Friday, July 5.

The company is looking to hire up to 60 people for the 45-seat call center. Many people want part-time positions, he added.

The company has purchased the property and will have the site up and running with three employees, which the company calls advisors, working during the open house, so interested applicants can watch them doing calls, Swanson said. And the company will be doing on-site interviews.

The first training classes will begin the week of July 15.

Straight Forward, which conducts telesales on behalf of companies such as Charter and Time-Warner Cable, cited the need to expand to meet clients' needs.

Swanson said the management team has been extra busy the past couple of weeks.

"We talked about it (opening the new location) just two weeks ago," he said.

Then they had to do a feasibility study, check into leases, find if there was an interest in the area and iron out a multitude of tiny details.

"It was a push," Swanson said.
