MONROE - A lane of Wisconsin 69 in Monroe was shut down for about an hour Tuesday afternoon after a large bulldozer slid partly off a flatbed trailer in traffic, according to Monroe police.
Daniel K. Trost, 35, Monroe, was northbound on Wis. 69 driving a McGuire Incorporated semi at about 1 p.m. when he slammed on the brakes for a red light at the intersection with 8th Street.
The sudden braking caused the B8 bulldozer Trost was hauling to shift and slide half off the flatbed trailer onto the road's curb and terrace.
There was no damage to the bulldozer, according to Police Chief Fred Kelley. Bulldozers are "pretty stout," he said, but it "scraped the daylights out of the curb."
Police are still investigating the accident.
