Brooklyn chamber to host business expo

BROOKLYN - The Brooklyn Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Business Expo from 8 a.m. to noon April 25 in the Brooklyn Community Building, 102 N. Rutland St.

The chamber is planning the annual Business Expo this year during the annual village-wide garage sales weekend, April 24 and April 25.

The Business Expo will feature a variety of local businesses and non-profits ready to show off their activities and products. Starting at 8:30 a.m., there will be a series of three 45-minute seminars including: Financial Services Center, Inc., Levi D. Cutler- CFP, AIF "Protect Your Identity"; Brooklyn Community Bank branch of Middleton Community Bank, Robert B. Helvey "Mortgage Lending"; and Dane Buy Local, "What is Dane Buy Local All About."

The event includes door prizes that have been donated by the businesses/non-profits and a 50/50 cash raffle; those who purchase tickets do not need to be present to win.

The Brooklyn/Oregon Optimists will be serving refreshments including coffee. Brooklyn Dairy Queen Liz Grady will also be greeting guests and serving cheese and assisting with the door prize and raffle tickets.

Brooklyn Veteran's Memorial Committee is hosting a 13-panel traveling display from the Wisconsin Veteran's Museum titled "Working Warriors, Military Life Beyond Combat."

A bouncy house will be held outside the community building and a putting contest will be from 9 to 11 a.m. with the finals starting at 11 a.m. Participants must be 21 years or older. Winner receives $100 gift card to the Anchor Club in Brooklyn. The contest is sponsored by Levi Cutler of the Financial Services Center.

The fee to register a booth is $40 for non-members and free to chamber members and non-profits. Space must be reserved by April 10 to be included in the Expo Brochure. All booths must be reserved no later than April 17. Those who reserve a booth must provide their own table and chairs or move and return table/chairs at the location.
