SPRING GROVE - A Brodhead woman was arrested Saturday after a snowmobile she was riding crashed, injuring a 9-year-old boy, according to a report from the Green County Sheriff's Department.
Michaela R. Schauer, 44, was arrested for operating a snowmobile while intoxicated and causing injury by intoxicated use of a snowmobile, according to the sheriff's department.
At about 4:43 p.m., deputies responded to a report that a snowmobile had collided with a truck in the 1500 block of Wisconsin 11 in the Town of Spring Grove.
According to the statement from the sheriff's department, Schauer was travelling across a field when she reported the snowmobile would not stop. The snowmobile then collided with a parked truck, spun around and struck a 9-year-old boy.
The boy was transported to Monroe Clinic for his injuries.
Schauer continued on the snowmobile until it collided with a fence, which ejected Schauer. She also was transported to Monroe Clinic for her injuries.
Additionally, Schauer was cited for refusing to take a test for intoxicated operation of a snowmobile. Schauer was released pending court.
