BRODHEAD - Brodhead's sixth annual Wildflower Art Festival, part of the Brodhead Chamber's annual Covered Bridge Days, is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Held in Veterans Park on Wisconsin 11 next to the depot museum, it is a juried fine art show featuring artists from four states displaying and selling their work.
Media of all kinds, including painting, wood, glass, ceramics, fiber, jewelry, photography, graphics and garden art, will be represented. There will be live music and homemade ice cream available in the park.
Several of the artists in this show have been long-time exhibitors at many art shows and many also have their work displayed in art galleries.
More information, including a list of exhibiting artists, is on the Brodhead Chamber website, brodheadchamber.org. From the "Wildflower Festival" selection from the list on the left side of the page, click on "Exhibiting Artists." One example of each artist's work is shown, as well as links to their websites, if applicable.
The Wildflower Festival also will feature a native plant tour called "Expect the Unexpected" in Putnam Park (by the swimming pool) from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday. This highlights the native plantings on the bank of the Mill Race and explains the importance of native landscapes.
Covered Bridge Days, Brodhead's largest festival, is going on all weekend with numerous activities. For the entire schedule, go to www.brodheadchamber.org, and click on the "Covered Bridge Days 2016" from the list on the left side of the page. Continuing events include the "Embrace the Race" pontoon boat rides on Brodhead's Mill Race Waterway, historic wagon tours, vendors, tractor pulls, a thresheree, saw mill demonstrations, a horse show, a car show, food, live music and more.
