BRODHEAD - The Brodhead Police Department announced Monday that the department is joining a nationwide task force that combats internet-based crimes against children.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was founded in 1998 to aid in interagency collaboration to investigate internet crimes that victimize children.
"We're very fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with the ICAC Task Force," said Brodhead police chief Chris P. Hughes in a statement. "The resources and expertise this partnership brings will help our staff in their efforts to identify and apprehend those who victimize our children."
The ICAC's Wisconsin task force works with more than 200 affiliate police and sheriff's departments, including the Monroe Police and Green County Sheriff's departments. Affiliate departments are eligible for additional funding for ICAC-related training and equipment and assistance from ICAC investigators throughout the state.
