Brodhead OKs funds to study senior center

BRODHEAD - The Brodhead Common Council awarded $10,000 to the Senior/Community Center for planning, following a Feb. 17 report from the committee chairwoman and alderwoman Beth Rosheisen.

Rosheisen requested funding to find out what the difference is for the city if it invests the money into an existing building or building a new facility. There is a possibility of a $500,000 grant in the future for either a new building, or renovating an existing building.

The committee does not know what to look for at this time without assistance from an engineer or contractor to help the committee get the information needed, so it can make a recommendation to the council and again ask the public if it is continuing to support a Senior/Community Center in Brodhead.

Formal amendment of the 2015 budget occurred at the March 9 council meeting with unanimous approval to fund the committee's request.
