BRODHEAD - A Brodhead man who hit a tree while paragliding near the Brodhead Airport Wednesday declined to seek medical attention, said Lt. Kari Phillips of the Green County Sheriff's Department.

Michael A. Krause, 40, collided with a tree when he was about 30 feet off the ground. A person with him reported the crash at 12:47 p.m., Phillips said, but Krause managed to get down from the tree before first responders arrived.

Phillips said Krause had not jumped out of a plane and that it was not known how he got up into the air.
