NEW GLARUS - New Glarus will be rolling out the barrel for the seventh annual Roger Bright Memorial Polkafest, June 13-15.

Bright, a New Glarus native, was a popular fixture on the polka music scene. He was a member of Frank Yankovic's band and had his own band that performed regularly at the New Glarus Hotel. He appeared on numerous albums through the years, including numerous ones of his own. He also had many accolades for helping promote the polka musical genre, and in 2000 was inducted into the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame. He died in 2001 from a heart attack he suffered while performing at a polka festival in Boulder, Colo.
