MONROE - The Bottom Line Duo will take the Monroe Arts Center stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 5.

As one of only three internationally touring cello and bass duos in history, the Bottom Line Duo create a concert experience that's designed to change the way individuals think about chamber music.

The husband and wife team of Spencer and Traci Hoveskeland, who perform as the Bottom Line Duo, are not typical classical fare. They aim to prove chamber music is accessible to all by breaking down common stereotypes. The technique of these classically trained virtuosos is paired with humor bordering on comedy. Their concerts are typically interspersed with anecdotes and comedic marital dueling. Works by the masters in classical music are mixed with works unique to this duo, such as their Ozzy Osbourne Disco tribute and the 1980s favorite hit "Walk Like an Egyptian."

Spencer Hoveskeland is a highly-regarded double bass musician. He performed as a bassist in Seattle's theaters for numerous Broadway musicals such as "Cinderella" with Eartha Kitt, and "Chicago" with Tom Wopat. As an orchestral player, he was principal bass of the Whatcom Symphony for six years.

Traci Hoveskeland began playing cello at age 10. She has performed with numerous Broadway musicals as principal cellist in the Paramount Theater and the 5th Avenue theaters in Seattle and has backed Tony Curtis, Richard Chamberlain and Patty Lapone in the process. As a recording artist she appears in genres from rock to classical with Grammy Award-winning artists. They have performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, and have toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

Reserved seat tickets for The Bottom Line Duo are $25 or $20 for adults, and $10 for students 18 years of age and under. Tickets may be purchased in person at the box office, 1315 11th St.; by calling MAC at 608-325-5700 or 888-596-1249; or online at www.monroeartscenter.com.
