BROWNTOWN — A fisherman on the Pecatonica River was found safe less than three hours after he was reported missing, said Green County Chief Deputy Tom Moczynski.

The 35-year-old Darlington man was reported missing at 7:10 a.m. June 25. A 911 caller reported the man was out fishing on a boat and was last heard from at about 9:30 p.m. the previous night. His pickup truck and trailer were still at the boat landing in Browntown.

The ensuing search for the man and his boat involved deputies from Green County and Lafayette County, including drone operators, as well as Green County EMS, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin State Patrol and fire department from South Wayne, Argyle and Browntown.

At 10 a.m., “dispatch was notified that the subject was located and was OK and was being brought back to the search scene,” Moczynski said.

Donna Flannery, the South Wayne EMS director, said the missing man was found near County B south of Browntown, but she didn’t have additional details.
