MONROE - After a closed session meeting, the Monroe School Board voted unanimously to approve a preliminary non-renewal notice for Monroe Middle School Assistant Principal Melissa Wiegel for next year.

District leaders agreed to cut the middle school assistant principal position in 2013-14, after voters rejected a four-year, $8-million non-recurring referendum in April 2011. The board also approved two-year administrative contracts for each other administrator. Wiegel's focus her this last year has been at the charter school.

In August, the board agreed to give Rikki Kazda a $5,000 stipend to serve as dean of students at the middle school in addition to the school psychologist position.

"The BOE did not approve salaries at this time," Monroe School District Superintendent Cory Hirsbrunner said. "That will be determined at a later date."
