MONROE - In a formal hearing Tuesday, the City of Monroe Senior Citizens Board affirmed a decision by Senior Center Director Tammy Derrickson to ban Edith Milestone, Monroe, from the Behring Senior Center. The board further decided it would consider a petition from Milestone to return to the Center upon her completion of an anger management program.
Attorney Raymond Clausen, Madison, representing Milestone, said he thought the decision was unfair and still is talking with his client about an appeal.
Clausen asked for the hearing at a board meeting Nov. 13, on the grounds that the ban was a violation of Milestone's constitutional rights, including freedom of speech and due process.
Derrickson and Milestone both testified at Tuesday's hearing.
Attorney Dan Bartholf, representing Derrickson, called Patsy Remour, Monroe, as a witness to testify.
Clausen called Marilyn Kilgore, Monroe, to testify as a witness for Milestone.
Testimony lasted more than three hours. The board deliberated 25 minutes before announcing its decision.
