Blood drive collects 22 units

SOUTH WAYNE - A total of 22 units of blood was collected at the South Wayne Community Blood Drive, which was held Thursday, July 26 at Marty's Village Inn.

There were four deferrals, one double and one quantity insufficient. Each pint has the potential of helping three people. First timer donors were Michael Wolff, Melissa Wellnitz, Heaven Paul and Lorraine Melland. The 7-gallon donor was Connie Meier. Other donors were Mary Metz, Richard Fernstaedt, Donald Olson, Jack Hagen, Cheryl Dale, Kim Hull, Grant Dale, Tom Wellnitz, Peggy Hutchison, Cassandra Leopold, David Eckerman, Kendra Bunnell, Gail Thoreson, Greg Seffrood, Gary Burns, Russell Berg, Ed Ernst, Carol Meier, Hurbert Tornow and Heidi Brenum.

Donating to the canteen were South Wayne Mart (milk), Valley View Cheese (cheese), Our Saviors Lutheran Church (sandwiches), Piggly Wiggly, Monroe (sausage), Joyce Paulson (egg salad sandwiches), and Connie Meier (cookies). Helpers for the day were Susie Junk, Lori Sawdey, Joyce Paulson and Connie Meier, coordinator of the drive.
