MONROE - During the week of May 2, Dane Country Contracting continued with the installation of sanitary sewer main from 12th Avenue to 14th Avenue. They installed 630 feet of 10-inch sewer main. New water and sewer services were reconnected to the new mains and replaced to the property line. They also completed the final connections of the new water main to the old water main at the intersections of 12th Avenue and 13th Avenue.

Rock Road Companies continued with the installation of 24-inch and 12-inch concrete storm sewer pipe along 8th Street from 9th Avenue to 10th Avenue. They installed about 240 feet of storm sewer while ripping and hammering through four feet of solid rock between 9th and 10th Avenues. Rock Road has completed the excavation of the subsoil of the street from South Highway 69 to 100 feet east of the bridge. After the soil excavation, they placed 6 to 12 inches of breaker run, depending on soil conditions and soft spots, and an initial layer of the 13-inch gravel base course. Voegeli Landscaping has also started working on retaining wall installations at 18th Ave. and 19th Ave.

Next week Dane County Contracting will continue with the sanitary sewer main installation along 9th Street from 14th Avenue working toward 15th Avenue. They will install sanitary sewer services up to the property line (back of sidewalk) and reconnect water services up to the terrace as they work down the street toward 15th Avenue. Once the new water services are connected, the final connection of the new water main will be completed at the avenue intersections abandoning the old water main in 9th Street. Once they get up to 15th Avenue with the sanitary sewer main, Dane County Contracting will continue with the water main installation from 15th Avenue working east.

Next week, Rock Road Companies will start removing concrete pavement from 10th Avenue to 13th Avenue. They will continue with storm sewer installation from 10th Avenue working toward 13th Avenue. After the concrete is removed from 10th to 13th Avenues, the grading crew will go back to the bridge area and continue with excavation of the subsoil and placement of the street base from the bridge to 10th Avenue and continue working east to join up with the storm sewer crew. Voegeli Landscaping will be working on retaining wall installation at 19th Avenue, 15th Avenue, and between 12th and 13th Avenues.

The closing of the bike trail is scheduled for May 17 to facilitate the removal of the bridge. An alternate route will be signed to get around the construction.

All intersections will remain open for cross traffic the majority of the time, except when they have to install utilities through the intersection. The intersections will be completely barricaded when this is happening as well as partial closure at the prior intersection. Otherwise, the barricades will be offset to allow for cross traffic.
