Matt Anderson, a choir director at Northern Illinois University who is pursuing a masters degree in music education, talks about his best friend Rocky, a 7-year-old boxer.

The former Monroe High School choir director got Rocky from the Dubuque Humane Society when he was a puppy. It was the same place he got his first boxer, Apollo, who Anderson said went to the rainbow bridge about nine months ago. Anderson gave them names from the Rocky movies; he also has a cat named Adrian.

DESCRIBE ROCKY'S PERSONALITY.

He's an over-energetic ball of energy that simply wants to either play or snuggle and sometimes he gets both of them mixed up. He loves to run and go on walks and rides. He's an explorer, which is awesome, and a cuddler. He's a classic boxer through and through.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO TOGETHER?

We like to come out to the dog park by the airport and roam around. He likes fetch, his Chuckit or his frisbee, and he likes to go for car rides. He just likes to explore everything.

WHAT HAS IT BEEN LIKE HAVING ROCKY IN YOUR LIFE

Slobbery. It's been pretty funny. He's comical. He does a lot of funny things and has such a personality. He's a joker. He's been a patient part of the family, and he's really great with my daughter, Ava. I couldn't ask for better.
