Best Friends is a weekly feature designed to highlight a local resident and his or her pets. To suggest

someone for the series, contact Marissa Weiher, photographer, at photo@themonroetimes.com.

Jocelyn Kline, owner of Orange Kitten Yarns, talks about her best friend Rosie, a 10-year-old Great Pyrenees.

She got Rosie about seven years ago after finding her on Petfinder.com from the Great Pyrenees Club of Metro Milwaukee, a rescue program. She wanted to get Rosie so her other Pyrenees, Quinn, who died earlier this year, wouldn't get lonely.

Describe Rosie's personality.

He's very laid-back. She's very much a mama's girl. She loves children and babies in strollers. Pyrenees are guard dogs, and at night she'll bark if someone's walking by the house; it's a security thing. I couldn't imagine she'd do anything if someone did get into the house. She'd probably just be like, "Hi, the treats are on the counter, can you get me one?" She also likes her kitties; we have three cats at home. She fits into this job really well. (Rosie helps out at the yarn shop.)

What do you and Rosie like to do

together?

We take walks. If Rosie could go on a walk without her leash, she'd really like that. We come to work, where she gets a lot of attention. We used go to assisted living places and she loved to see the people. She also just enjoys sleeping on the couch.

What has it been like having Rosie in your life?

Pretty great. I didn't want a Pyrenees that was Quinn's age because I didn't want to lose both dogs at the same time. We're glad we decided to get a younger dog when we adopted, especially now that we don't have Quinn. Rosie's a very sweet, comforting dog. There's not a lot of dogs around like Rosie. If someone decides they want to get a Pyrenees, they should know what they're getting into. Some of them can drool, they can bark a lot and they have a double coat, so they need to be brushed regularly.
