Ed Bader, who lives in Monroe and works for Sara Lee in Madison, talks about his best friends Sabrina, a 6-year-old calico, and Schrodinger, an 8-year-old gray-and-white cat.

Bader got Sabrina about five years ago as a Christmas present from his wife, Laura, and son, Clinton. They picked her because she was purring the most.

Bader inherited Schrodinger or Schro from his son about a year ago after he moved to Seoul, South Korea, to teach English. Schro is named after Austrian physicist Erwin Schrodinger.

Bader said he has always liked cats and has a portrait of himself in the second grade holding a cat in his living room.

Describe Sabrina's and Schro's personalities.

Sabrina is real friendly. She never stops purring. She's very lazy and loves to eat. She also likes to sit in the windows.

Schro's a little tougher. He's my buddy. As soon as I come home from work he'll follow me around everywhere I go. He's not as friendly to other people as Sabrina, but he loves hanging out with me or my wife, depending on who's home.

What do you like to do together?

They love to go outside. I take them out on a leash and harness. They're not really lap cats but they'll sit with you.

What has it been like having them in your life?

They're both affectionate. They get jealous when one gets my attention and the other one doesn't. They're both really good cats. Sabrina is probably the best cat I've ever had.
