MONROE - A Beloit man was uninjured Saturday, Nov. 24, when he crashed an airplane at the Brodhead Airport.
Frank James Beckman, 71, was attempting to land a 1941 single-engine Aeronca 65CA when the plane hit a dip on the runway and overturned, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.
The plane came to a rest upside down on the runway and sustained moderate damage.
Deputies and Brodhead police, firefighters and EMS were dispatched at 2:01 p.m. to the airport, located at N2443 Brodhead Airport Road in the Town of Spring Grove. The Department of Natural Resources also responded to the scene to take care of a small gas leak, according the sheriff's department.
The crash was referred to the Federal Aviation Administration for investigation.
