DARLINGTON - A Belmont man with six prior convictions of driving while intoxicated was charged Thursday in Lafayette County Circuit Court with his seventh. Douglas Edward Popp, 52, faces a Class G felony charge of operating while intoxicated (seventh, eighth or ninth offense). If convicted, he could be sentenced up to five years in prison and five years on parole.
