MONROE - Wisconsin Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin was one of only 16 honorary co-chairs of the Inauguration, selected by President-elect Obama and the Presidential Inauguration Committee.
Baldwin said Tuesday's swearing in of President Obama was an "extraordinary" experience.
Baldwin was between the bleachers and the platform at the ceremony with a vantage point of the Mall.
"I could see all the people on the Mall, block after block after block," Baldwin said.
While in the presidential review stand, waiting for Obama and the first family to pass by on their way to the White House, Baldwin called The Monroe Times to describe the scene and experience in Washington, D.C., Tuesday.
"I was moved by the inauguration," Baldwin said. "The president's speech was in the tone that he has repeated during the campaign... that we are all part of the solution to the challenges facing this nation. He is calling on all of us to be the solution."
