BLANCHARDVILLE - A search warrant on a home in the 8800 block of Lake Road in Fayette Township Wednesday morning resulted in the arrest of two residents for allegedly manufacturing and distributing marijuana, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department.

Eric D. Switzky, 36, and Kristen D. Switzky, 33, face multiple felony charges for making and possessing THC-based substances with the intention of dealing the items to others. Court records indicate Eric Switzky has lived at 8832 Lake Road since at least 2012.

Officers with the Stateline Area Narcotics Task Force, Belmont Police Department and Lafayette County Sheriff's office seized more than 75 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, 20 pounds of leaf clippings and a butane chemical used to make hashish oil.

The sheriff's department said SLANT and deputies also removed firearms from the home.

Hash oil is commonly made by soaking concentrated marijuana pieces in a type of chemical, which the sheriff's department noted in the press release is a dangerous, combustible process. Sometimes referred to as "honey oil," the goal in creating the amber-colored liquid is to create a substance more powerful than typical marijuana. The process can be dangerous because even a slight spark can cause a large explosion.

Neither of the home's occupants were present for the execution of the search warrant. The Switzkys were both taken to the Lafayette County Jail to await an initial court appearance.

Blanchardville EMS and the Blanchardville Fire Department assisted at the scene. The investigation is still ongoing, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department.
