MONROE - In addition to a five-course dinner created by Chef Sarah Jarrett of Laughing Trout in Monroe, the Monroe Arts Center's "A Taste of Spring" fundraising event May 4 at the Ludlow Mansion will also include a fine art live auction, a silent auction, and live musical entertainment.
Art and "experiences" will be part of the live auction. The live auction art items include original oil and acrylic paintings by artists Jonathan Wilde, Deborah Meyer, Derek Hambly, and Tina Duemler; a functional metal sculpture co-created by Robert Bergman and Chuck Wellington; and a hand-forged metal cartouche table by Nana Schowalter.
The one-of-a-kind "experiences" on the live auction include: a two-night condominium stay at Northern Bay Resort located on the shores of Castle Rock Lake in central Wisconsin; two-hours of live music for your event by the Miller-Minucci-Steil Trio; and a Colony Brand bakery tour for six conducted by Colony Master Pastry Chef Dan Moats. Along with robotic and hand-decorating bakery demonstrations, this tour takes viewers through areas of the Colony not open to the public. The tour concludes with a special evening at the home of John and Katie Baumann.
Doug Munda of Munda Auctions, Freeport, will be the guest auctioneer.
The Jodi Beach Trio of Rockford will provide the evening's live entertainment of familiar jazz and standard tunes. The trio is an eight-time winner of a Rockford Area Music Industry and five-time winner of an On the Waterfront-Best of Rockford award and performs throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. Their 2010 CD release, "West of the Moon," earned the trio a RAMI for Album of the Year. Along with Beach (vocals, keyboard), members of the trio include Jim McDowell (upright bass), and Tom Marken (percussion).
Individual tickets are $75 ($45 tax deductible) and tables of eight are $500 ($260 tax deductible). For reservations, call 608-325-5700. For more information, visit monroeartscenter.com.
