DARLINGTON - An arrest warrant has been filed for an Iowa man who killed an 87-year-old Mineral Point woman in a car collision in December.

Chad Michael Ernzen, 38, Durango, Iowa, has been charged with vehicular homicide and second-degree reckless homicide, both Class D felonies.

The charges were filed after a police investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

On Dec. 14, 2015, Ernzen was driving eastbound in the westbound lane of Wisconsin 81, Town of Seymour, and was unable to slow down or veer away from an oncoming vehicle. The two vehicles collided head-on at about 1:55 p.m.

The driver of the second vehicle, Rosette V. King, was critically injured in the crash. She was declared dead about an hour after the collision. Ernzen also sustained severe injuries.

The police investigation revealed that Ernzen had used methamphetamines at a Dubuque apartment between 10 a.m. and noon. A test of Ernzen's blood found identified amphetamines and methamphetamines in his system.

Each of Ernzen's charges carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison or a maximum fine of $100,000.
