MONROE - A Lena man is in custody for demanding medication at gunpoint at Monroe Clinic Thursday afternoon.
Antonio S. Buss, 29, of Lena, was later arrested in Lena and is being held in the Stephenson County jail, according to a news release from Fred Kelley, Monroe chief of police.
Kelley said Buss was at the clinic for an appointment when he brandished a pistol at a staff member and demanded to be given medication. During the incident, staff kept the man calm while others notified police. Buss fled the building when he learned police were called. Clinic staff were able to give police the man's name and vehicle description.
No one was injured in the incident, which happened at about 4:44 p.m.
After being contacted by Monroe police, Lena police arrested Buss about two hours later. Buss allegedly had the pistol in his possession at the time, Kelley said.
Buss is being held in the Stephenson County jail, awaiting extradition on tentative charges of attempted armed robbery, reckless use of a weapon and criminal trespass with a firearm.
The incident remains under investigation.
