MONROE - Police are pursuing leads on a suspect in the robbery of an occupied home in the 5400 block of County DR just northeast of Monroe after a woman at the house called authorities to report an armed man had entered the residence Thursday.
According to a press release from Green County Sheriff Mark Rohloff, a lone female occupant was confronted by a man who entered through an unlocked door. He then revealed a weapon and announced his intention of theft. Officers responded around 5:45 p.m.
The suspect was described as a white male, in his mid-30s and roughly 5-foot-6 with light facial hair. The victim was unharmed. She said the man was wearing a grey sweatshirt, brown gloves and a brown cap. Jewelry and cash were taken from the home, but the total amount of the robbery is unknown. The woman said the suspect fled on foot.
The release specified that a department canine unit searched the area with the aid of the Monroe Police Department, tracking until officers reached an area where they believe the suspect left in a vehicle.
The suspect has not yet been found. The matter remains an open investigation.
