MONROE - An Argyle man was arrested Sunday on multiple charges, including drunken driving, after fleeing police in Monroe and then crashing his vehicle near Argyle, according to reports from Monroe Police and the Green County Sheriff's Office.

Jacob A. Riley, 21, is jailed on a felony charge of knowingly fleeing an officer and cited for numerous traffic violations.

Riley reportedly fled from officers north out of the city after Monroe Police tried to stop him at 2:53 a.m. Sunday for a traffic violation on 22nd Avenue at 4th Street.

About 40 minutes later, Green County deputies were called to a single-vehicle crash in the W8100 block of Apple Grove Road in the Town of Adams.

An investigation showed that Riley was westbound when he went into the south ditch and hit a power pole and fence. He reported not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, then turned over to Monroe Police at about 6:45 a.m. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed. Argyle Fire and EMS assisted at the accident scene.

In addition to the felony charge, Riley faces citations for operating while under the influence (first offense), driving with a revoked license, driving too fast for conditions, having open intoxicants in the vehicle and failing to wear his seatbelt.
