MONROE — The School District of Monroe announced this week a sponsorship agreement with the McArdle family, ensuring that one of Monroe High School’s most iconic symbols, the entrance Arch, will continue to inspire generations of students and community members.

Through a generous contribution, the McArdle family will provide $50,000 to sponsor two arch projects at the new Monroe High School campus:

●  The Exterior Arch — prominently placed over the walkway leading to the stadium and plaza on the east side of the building, serving as a welcoming gateway for students, athletes, and visitors.

●  The Interior Arch Sculpture — a stunning tribute to the history and tradition of Monroe High School, honoring the many versions of the school over the years.

The gift reflects the McArdle family’s deep and ongoing commitment to education in Monroe, said Joe Monroe, Interim Superintendent. Barb McArdle, a retired Monroe Middle School teacher, dedicated her career to advocating for children and shaping young lives, and the McArdle family name has long been synonymous with support for local schools, athletics, and the community at large.

“The Arch is more than a structure, it’s a symbol of pride, unity, and tradition for Monroe,” said Monroe. “Thanks to the McArdle family’s incredible generosity, future generations will walk beneath the Arch and feel connected to the rich history and bright future of our community. Their gift embodies the very best of Monroe’s spirit, where we honor our past while investing in our future.”

The district also extended a heartfelt thanks to Mitch McArdle for his leadership in bringing this vision to life. His enthusiasm, determination, and love for Monroe High School were instrumental in making this sponsorship possible.

“Four generations of our family have graduated from Monroe High School,” said Mitch McArdle. “The education, friendships, and values we gained here have shaped our lives. This community has given so much to our family, and it’s an honor to give back in a way that preserves such a meaningful tradition. We hope every student who walks under the Arch feels the same sense of pride that we do.”

Monroe said the district is deeply grateful for the McArdle family’s “unwavering investment in our students, schools, and community. Their gift ensures that the Arch tradition will remain a lasting symbol of connection, celebration, and Monroe pride.”
