Albany to host Dairy Days June 27

ALBANY - Green County Dairy Days is getting ready to kick off the 2015 season with events in and around this year's host community of Albany.

The first public event will be the annual Cattle Show on June 20 at the Green County Fairgrounds in Monroe. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The first events begin at 9:30 a.m. with the judging of showmanship followed by class judging. The Jolly-Mixers 4H group will be on hand raising money for their club by serving up ice cream, food and beverages from the AgChest trailer.

This year's Queens banquet will be hosted by last year's Dairy Queen, local Albany resident Sayde McDermott. The banquet will be held in the form of a brunch on June 27, beginning with "Moo-Tails' at 9 a.m. at the Albany Lions Club Building, 402 N. Cincinnati St.

Following the Queen's Brunch, activities will be held in downtown Albany, including arts and crafts show, a "Taste of Albany" food sampling, various sidewalk sales and the city-wide garage sale.

The parade will begin downtown at 1:30 p.m. with the coronation to follow. Anyone interested in participating in the parade can contact Jan Albertson at 608-862-3531 with entry information by June 15.

The day will conclude with the coronation of the new Dairy Queen in the park across from the Albertson Memorial Library immediately following the parade.
