MADISON - An Albany man was indicted Thursday on federal felony charges of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute in Madison.
Christopher Stevens, 32, Albany, was indicted on three counts of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute by a federal grand jury. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.
The grand jury indictment alleges that Stevens intended to distribute methamphetamine on Dec. 20, 2016, Jan. 3, 2017 and Jan. 7, 2017.
Stevens was arrested in Albany on Wednesday after an investigation by several local law enforcement agencies - including the Lafayette, Rock and Dane county sheriffs - and federal drug enforcement administration agents.
Stevens made an initial appearance Wednesday at U.S. District Court in Madison and is currently in custody.
