Albany kicks off Homecoming week

ALBANY - Albany High School announced the Homecoming 2013 activities.

Spirit Week begins Friday, Oct. 4 with "Friday Night Lights" dress-up day. Students can wear clothing from their favorite football team including Evansville-Albany, Badgers or Packers. Homecoming Court will be announced. Volleyball will be played at lunch between seniors and freshmen. Class float building will begin.

Monday, Oct. 7 is "Men in Black"/Blackout Day dress-up day, where participants can wear all black. Volleyball will be held at lunch between juniors and sophomores.

Tuesday, Oct. 8 is "Disney Movie/Animation Day" dress-up day. Participants can dress as a favorite Disney/animated character. Volleyball will be held at lunch between the losers of Friday and Monday.

Wednesday, Oct. 9 is "Superhero vs. Villain Day" dress-up day. Participants can dress as a superhero, villain or a sci-fi character. Class meetings will be held during plus-period and the election for king and queen will be held. Volleyball will be held between the winners of Friday and Monday. Completed banners must be hung in the gym by the end of the day.

There is no school on Thursday, Oct. 10 for parent-teacher conferences.

Friday, Oct. 11 is "Bring it On" Comet Spirit Day for grades kindergarten through 12th. Class meetings will take place during plus-period. Completed class floats must be in the school gym parking lot by advisory period. The pep assembly is set from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. The volleyball winners of Thursday's game will play against teachers/staff. Class talents and introduction of fall sports and the homecoming court will take place. The teacher/staff/student movie challenge will take place. The parade will leave at 2:30 p.m. from gym parking lot to Legion Park.

The Homecoming Dance is set for 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Oct. 12. The Grand March is set for 9:30 p.m. The cost for high school students is $9 and the spectator cost is $5.
