MONROE — The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Green County is offering Sip and Swipe, a program created by Generations on Line.
This program offers older adults the opportunity to learn more about some of the newest technologies available on tablets, iPads, and/or even smartphones, while sipping on their favorite beverage. A tablet/iPad is a small, handheld computer with a touch screen that is swiped instead of using a separate keyboard or mouse.
During the four, one-hour sessions (meeting for one hour, twice a week, for two weeks), students will be coached by ADRC staff and will learn how to turn the tablet off and on, download and open an app (application), turn pages, make the screen smaller or larger, use the touch screen keyboard, set up an email account, and send an email, search for a topic on the internet, work with assorted links, and much more. Participants learn at their own pace.
Sessions will be held at the Green County ADRC on Feb. 21, 25, 28, and March 4. One-hour increment time slots are available from 9-10 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon, 1-2 p.m., and 3-4 p.m. (must keep same time slot for all four sessions). This class is free. Pre-registration is required for this class. Spots are limited to four learners per hour/time slot.
Owning a tablet/iPad is not required, tablets are available for use during the sessions. Adults wishing to participate should contact Green County ADRC at (608) 328-9499 and sign up before the spots fill up.
