MONROE - Mayor Bill Ross on Tuesday announced the formation of a new city ad hoc committee to help Monroe restructure its government to ensure financial stability now and in the future.
The committee is expected to focus on the city's current organizational structure, staffing levels and services - and to consider potential changes, as well as the impact of future changes on funding.
The committee will submit its recommendations to city council committees and departments for potential action.
Ross appointed nine members to the committee Tuesday: Chuck Koch, alderman, Ward 5; Michael Boyce, alderman Ward 3; Philip Rath, city administrator; Cathy Maurer, city comptroller; George Thompson, wastewater plant supervisor; Catherine Kehoe, president of AFSCME union Local 3760; Larry Brown, superintendent of Monroe School District; and Jean Ruda, general manager of Ruda Chevrolet-Toyota.
Ross will also serve on the committee.
Cara Carper, the UW-Extension Community Resource Development agent, has been recruited to facilitate the progress of the committee.
The first meeting of the committee has not yet been announced.
