MONROE - The deadline for farmers to file their perennial forages and fall-seeded grains reports is Nov. 16. All producers are encouraged to contact their local FSA office to make an appointment to certify their crops.
Timely and complete acreage reports are eligibility requirements for many FSA programs, including the Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage Programs, Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program, Livestock Forage Disaster Program, Marketing Assistance Crop Loan Program, and Loan Deficiency Payment Program. Perennial forage includes but is not limited to grass, alfalfa, mixed hay, clover and others intended for hay or grazing. Small grains are wheat, rye, triticale and any others planted this fall.
The following exceptions apply to the above acreage reporting date: If the crop has not been planted by the above acreage reporting date, then the acreage must be reported no later than 15 calendar days after planting is complete; If a producer acquires additional acreage after the above acreage reporting date, then the acreage must be reported no later than 30 calendar days after purchase or acquiring the lease, and appropriate documentation must be provided to the county office; and if a perennial forage crop is reported with the intended use of "cover only," "green manure," "left standing," or "seed," then the acreage must be reported by July 15.
