MONROE - Maquita Stokes, accused of causing the death of an 81-year-old Browntown man in a head-on crash in August, will have a pre-trial conference in September so both defense and prosecution can view an accident reconstruction report slated to be completed in July.

Stokes, 30, Rockford, appeared in court Tuesday so the defense and prosecuting attorneys could coordinate a date far enough in the future to allow both sides to view the Wisconsin State Patrol's accident reconstruction report. Stokes has a pre-trial conference set for Sept. 2.

Stokes is charged with two Class D felony counts, one for homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and one for homicide by use of a vehicle with a prohibited blood alcohol concentration. She is also charged with four Class F felony counts, two for injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle and two for injury by use of a vehicle with a PAC.

The homicide charges are for the death of the driver of the vehicle Stokes hit head-on, Antone C. Grawehr. Grawehr died at the scene of the crash due to cardiac arrest after the force of the crash crushed his legs, broke his ribs, fractured his pelvis and left him with multiple lacerations. Court records indicate Grawher and his wife Alma, 82, were driving back from their son's wedding in Milwaukee, traveling on Wis. 81 south of Brodhead when Stokes' SUV swerved over the center line and hit the Grawehr's Dodge Caravan.

The wreck seriously injured Stokes, one of her passengers and Alma. Stokes was recently allowed back to work at her job in a gum factory in Rockford. She could not work for many months due to her injuries.
