80th ASSEMBLY DISTRICT Race

Why are you running?

My wife Judi and I have been blessed to raise our four children in Monroe. There's nothing we'd like more than to see our grandkids continue this tradition, and for them to also have the opportunity to grow-up and thrive right here in Wisconsin. However, as state government continues to head in the wrong direction, I have become increasingly worried about the future of all our young people.

I have been a small-business owner nearly all my life, and it is that experience I will draw upon when making tough budgetary decisions for the State of Wisconsin. In my business, we use a simple rule - "If there's no money in the checkbook, stop writing checks!"Our state is not experiencing its current financial problems because we tax too little, but rather, because government spends far too much. I will work tirelessly to help restore fiscal sanity to Madison.

Why should voters choose you over your opponent?

I'm not a career-politician. I'm a small-businessman. For over 30 years, I've been on the front lines, fighting to protect jobs and providing quality homes to Wisconsin families. I will use this private-sector experience, along with a healthy dose of plain-old common sense, to go to work for the residents of the 80th Assembly District.

What are the biggest issues facing your district?

The number-one issue facing the 80th Assembly District is, no doubt, Job Creation. In the last year alone, Wisconsin lost 163,000 jobs. We must reverse this trend. The 80th Assembly District shares an immediate border with Illinois, and we must ensure our state offers a viable and competitive business market.

Furthermore, education is directly linked to a strong job climate. Wisconsin has a proud history of being a leader on education issues, which I will work to protect, by ensuring that parents can find educational alternatives that are best suited to their child's individual needs. This will empower more parents to find the best learning environment for their child, and lay the building blocks for future success.
