MONROE - A 6-year-old girl was injured Monday when she was hit by a vehicle after getting off a school bus in Lafayette County.

The accident happened at 3:38 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 on Wisconsin 11 in the Town of Wayne. Reports indicate that the School District of Black Hawk school bus, operated by Roger L. Jackson, 73, Browntown, was stopped legally with its red flashing lights activated and the stop arm extended.

Angela S. Goebel, 41, Gratiot, was traveling westbound when she went to pass the bus on the right shoulder. Goebel hit the 6-year-old girl, who had gotten off the bus and was going into the driveway of her residence.

The 6-year-old was transported by ambulance to Monroe Clinic ER for treatment of injuries. The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department, South Wayne Fire Department, South Wayne First Response and Monroe Ambulance reported to the scene.

Goebel was cited for failure to stop for a stopped school bus and failure to have control of a motor vehicle.
