MONROE - Three teens have been arrested for allegedly stealing Monroe Alderman Chuck Schuringa's truck twice over a three-day period last week from the 2200 block of Second Avenue.

Alexander J. Hasse, 18, Juda, was arrested Tuesday and charged with driving a vehicle without the owner's consent, contributing to the delinquency of a child and entry into a locked vehicle. He was released pending court.

A 16-year-old Monroe male was arrested Monday and charged with felony driving a vehicle without owner's consent, misdemeanor driving a vehicle without owner's consent, theft and entry into a locked vehicle.

Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley said the 16-year-old was charged with a felony because the truck was damaged after it was taken.

A second 16-year-old Monroe male was charged with driving a vehicle without the owner's consent and theft.

The juveniles were referred to juvenile intake and released to their parents.

Kelley said officers determined the truck was stolen twice by the same people by determining the truck's keys were used both times and because a phone was left in the vehicle after it was taken the second time.

Schuringa, alderman for Ward 10 in Monroe, owned the truck.

Schuringa's truck first was stolen between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 7 and 4 a.m. Aug. 8. It was discovered at about 11:30 a.m. Aug. 8 in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1700 block of 30th Avenue. The pickup had been locked, but the keys were missing.

Schuringa's truck was stolen for a second time Saturday night or early Sunday. The truck was found at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning in a ditch in the N2200 block of Mount Hope Road, near Giese Road, in Spring Grove township.
