MONROE — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash just north of Monroe city limits Tuesday, April 2.

The accident happened at about 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Wisconsin 81 and County N, Town of Monroe.

Maynard L. Hefty, 73, Monticello, was eastbound on Wis. 81 and turning left onto County N when he hit a westbound vehicle on Wis. 81 driven by Patricia J. Weidel, 57, Morrison, Illinois.

Hefty, Weidel and Weidel’s passenger Cassandra L. May, 26, also of Morrison, were all taken by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER for treatment of their injuries from the crash.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage with airbag deployment and were towed. The Monroe Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Hefty will be cited for failure to yield right-of-way while making a left turn.
