MONROE — Two adult occupants were injured in an aircraft crash reported at about 12:20 p.m. Aug. 27 in a farm field along County FF, east of Balls Mill Road between Monroe and Albany.

The pilot of the 1967 Beech V35 small aircraft was Luc E. Vanherle, 66, and his passenger was his wife, Nancy L. Ilbuga-Vanherle, 58, both of Rochester, Minnesota.

Green County Sheriff Jeff Skatrud said Green County dispatch received the call from Luc Vanherle using a cellular phone reporting that he and his passengers sustained injuries but both were alert and conscious. The call was initially transferred from the Rock County 911 Center.

According to Skatrud, the couple was traveling from Rochester, Minnesota to Chicago, Illinois, when they reported the aircraft sustained mechanical issues before crashing into the field. Both were transported by ambulance to the Monroe Clinic Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies provided security at the crash scene overnight and the Federal Aviation Administration was contacted and personnel were dispatched out of Milwaukee to respond to the crash, according to Skatrud. That investigation is ongoing. The plane is expected to be removed Aug. 28.

Deputies, along with ambulances from Green County EMS and Albany EMS were dispatched to the scene, as were Albany Fire Department personnel.
