MONTICELLO - Two people from Illinois were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Wisconsin 69 and County C in Monticello around 2 p.m. Friday, according to the Green County Sheriff's Office.

Green County Sgt. Mark Binger said Leland R. Bishop, 37, Beloit, stopped at an intersection on County C before pulling his truck onto Wis. 69. Bishop failed to see a vehicle driven by Ronald L. Nusbaum, about 71, Rock Falls, Illinois, traveling southbound on Wis. 69, and the two vehicles collided.

Both Nusbaum and his passenger, Kathleen R. Thomas, about 69, also of Rock Falls, were injured in the resulting collision and taken to UW Hospital in Madison by emergency responders. Thomas was transported by MedFlight and Nusbaum by New Glarus EMS, Binger said.

Authorities closed Wis. 69 and County C at the site, reopening the roads to traffic about 40 minutes later.

Binger said the incident is under investigation.
