MONROE - The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin issued a public notice Nov. 25 for its investigation of the Monroe Municipal Water Utility construction authorization application to implement a meter replacement program at a total estimated cost of $1.3 million. The Commission intends to conduct this investigation without a hearing.

The PSC investigation is a routine process, giving members of the public time to file a request to intervene. The request must be made within 14 days of the notice date.

The utility's application was submitted Oct. 16, 2013, even though the program to replace water meters began in late 2012, and about 40 percent of the meters had already been changed. Michael L. Kennison, Monroe Water Utility Supervisor, informed the PSC that he was making the application that should have been submitted earlier by the city's utility director.

The city had two utility directors between May 2010 and September 2013, with a period between June 2012 and September 2012, when the position was unfilled.

Kennison said Wednesday that there are no repercussions for the late application.

A request to intervene can be filed online at the PSC website, psc.wi.gov, under ERF - Electronic Regulatory Filing. The docket number is 3820-CW-104. To file by mail or for more information, contact the commission's docket coordinator, Peter Feneht, at 608-266-5614 or Peter.Feneht@wisconsin.gov.
